CS 10 // Contest

Newly Engaged: 3/7/12, 5pm, Rexburg, ID; f/1.4; 1/4000; NikonD90

I chose to do an online contest through the website IHeartFaces.com. This week’s contest is “NEW Social Media ABC Photo Challenge.”  The letter for this week is N. This contest is different than others because the way you enter is through social media- Facebook, Google plus, Twitter, and Instagram.

It seemed hard at first only choosing a photo that somehow has to do with the letter N. As I looked through my photos from this semester, it got easier coming up with some ideas. I then sized my photos to 750px wide, added my logo on it and using my facebook photography page, I posted my photo on the IHeartFaces Facebook wall.

Canvas Image

Sunset Dock
Date & Time of Day:  1/14/12, 6pm
Location: Long Beach, California
Aperture: f/2.0 Shutter Speed: 1/320
Camera: NikonD90
Edits: Using camera raw I changed the temperature warmer, bumped up vibrant, clarity, blacks and a little saturation. I then sharpened the focal point (middle with water, posts and seagul) in Photoshop.
I chose this image because I feel that it is an image I can hang up anywhere in a home to give it a relaxing feel. I love the warmth of the setting sun and the ocean. Most of my favorite photos of the semester were portraits because that is my strength, but I honestly didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a portrait canvas of someone that it would be random and weird to hang up somewhere. So when looking back on the photos I took, I really loved the one I took in California of the dock and decided on this one. I’m really excited to see it printed on canvas and to see it hung up!

Burned Border- Just Walked In: 2/10/12, 11am, Bannack Ghost Town, MT; f/1.4; 1/1250; NikonD90

Double Fade Border– Shadows: 2/17/12, 4:20pm, Rexburg, ID; f/1.8; 1/4000; NikonD90

Fine Art Template- Spiral: 2/21/12, 11:45pm, Rexburg, ID; f/2.5; 2.5 secs; NikonD90

I love the fine art template! It looks very professional and would look amazing framed and hung up. I am not very fond of the rest of the borders, I not one to make borders for my photographs, but I think it was really fun to learn and I figured out new things in Photoshop that I didn’t know about.

Blog 6 // Bannack MACRO ABSTRACT

Rusted and Used: 2/10/12, 11am, Bannack Ghost Town, MT; f/1.4; 1/25; NikonD90

I combined these two images to create this abstract. I really liked the rusted can compared to the old wood in one of the houses so I thought that combining them would create a neat combination.
